Writing, Women, and Woolf: An Adventure Begins

I’m going away for a few days to write with friends – – a writers retreat. I’m excited! The women in my group are all accomplished writers and I learn so much every time we meet. Of course, I will also be bringing another accomplished, brilliant woman along for inspiration–Virginia Woolf–in the form of her diaries and short stories. Her way with words and phrases still dazzles my brain and leaves me awestruck. She was way ahead of her time with writing technique and psychological thought and introspection.

I took these photos four years ago at Woolf’s home, Monk’s House, in Rodmell, Sussex, UK, while I was performing research on her and the Bloomsbury Group. Now if I could only get back there to write once again…
