Mary Oliver: How I Go to the Woods

One of my favorites by one of my favorites for National Poetry Month. Y’all know I love and revere Mary Oliver. And the woods. Sharing this poem is my way of saying Happy Poetry, Happy Woodswalk, and Happy Weekend!

This poem is from Oliver’s latest (and largest!) book, ‘Devotions.’

Enjoy!

  1. Hmmm … I believe I follow you, but never saw this. I have some investigating to do! Anyway, I like this a lot, too. If I’m going to go sit in the woods, or by the river, I’m likely to be happiest alone, too. 🙂

      1. No worries, I move like a tortoise in my writing, too. I also had thought everyone had stopped writing, but found that somehow WP had turned off my getting notices of people posting. I do love to write, but I am enjoying “imaging” a lot, too, these days. Yes – see you there!

  2. I too love Mary Oliver – I feel sure we have discussed this before. If we haven’t we should have! I love how you took this photo and included the page of the book. This book is on my wish list! Happy reading, happy walking, happy alone time!

    1. Yes, we have discussed our common (in-common?) love of Mary Oliver. I can’t remember if you’ve read Upstream. It’s one of my favorite books of hers. It contains some essays, which I also like. Happy Everything to you! Especially Happy Birthday to Siddy! 🐶❤️🎉
